My copy of Black Lagoon: Roberta’s Blood Trail was provided for review. The DVD and Blu-Ray set became available in the UK, via Manga, at the start of the month.
It’s not just the OVA it is also a full season. There’s no doubt in my mind that Black Lagoon fans should watch this one. Martin, right? What I do worry about is how some of the characters act and I worried about both Roberta and Rock. For this anime I know not to worry about the life of any of the key characters I figure almost anyone of them could die at any point. I enjoyed Roberta’s Blood Trail but couldn’t watch it in long bursts – and that’s the first time that’s ever happened to be with a Black Lagoon series. There’s a lot to play for especially if you’re not keen on the USA flooding Roanapur with troops and what that would mean for the Lagoon Company. There’s a load of factions who get involved in the action the Lovelace family, the Chinese Triad, the Russian Mafia (aka Hotel Moscow), the Church of Violence, the Colombian cartel and the Americans in the form of the Grey Fox Squad. He might not act in the way you would have thought. Roberta’s Blood Trail finds the time to look at all the characters – Revy, of course, but also Rock. Inside Thailand is Roanapur, a depraved, crime-ridden metropolis the place not even the authorities or church buildings are untouched by the claws of corruption. There’s more than just violence and action here, though. Synopsis Black Lagoon Season 1 Dub You need to login or register to bookmark/favorite this content. In this case Roberta’s master, Diego Lovelace, is assassinated and this results in Roberta steaming into Roanapur with revenge on her mind.īlack Lagoon follows know to expect lots of blood, adult scenes, Revy and other powerful women kicking ass and blasting away with powerful hand guns. The question to ask yourself before watching this series, especially if you’re a fan of the character, is “What happens to a Black Lagoon character the spotlight shines on?” We know of her background and of her abilities she’s one of the toughest we’ve seen.
Roberta may be a secondary character in the series but she’s hugely popular. As the title suggests it leans heavily on the mild mannered maid – Roberta. Intended for mature audiences.Roberta’s Blood Trail is the third series of Black Lagoon and presented as an OVA. Black Lagoon contains strong graphic violence, suggestive themes/dialogs, alcohol consumption, and foul languages. I recommend this series if you like gory action anime, though there are quite a bit of talking between the actions.
It’s hard to invest in these characters as they don’t really develop much and the arc feels like a monster of the week kind of show. You can watch these arcs in any order except for the introduction arc at the beginning. The series consists of multiple short stories string together and not really a consistent plot from beginning to end. Overall it’s a good show, just not great. If you think Revy was super-human, wait until you see Roberta. Revy will charge in and massacre dozen of well-trained mercenaries and come out without a single scratch.
The series wants you to believe in this gritty underground world, but at the same time throws action scenes that are borderline supernatural. The anime tries to be both realistic and over the top at the same time. The ending song “Don’t Look Behind” by EDISON had no vocal and is quite haunting. The opening theme “Red Fraction” by MELL is a memorable and catchy song. Since the setting mostly took place in the tropic, the sky, water, and trees are bright and vibrant. Black Lagoon has one of the more memorable introductions to one of our main characters, Rock and the rest of the Black Lagoon crew.
